It's election time! All Friends members are invited to the Annual Membership Meeting and Elections on Friday, November 18. Your civic participation will be rewarded with lunch from Shine Café.

The Morro Bay Book Discussion Group meets at the Library on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. – Noon in the John Kim Room.
November 2, 10 a.m. - Noon The Crowning Glory of Calla Lilly Ponder by Rebecca Wells. A tale of family and friendship, tragedy and triumph . . . perfect for book discussion groups!
November 9, 10 a.m. - Noon Join us before our Book Discussion group for a Special Presentation on Senior Nutrition by Two Cal Poly Nutrition Interns: Jamie Foley & Anna Sitkoff. Enjoy nutritious treats, as well!Following the presentation, we will discuss The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer by Siddhartha Mukherjee. For 4,000 years, cancer has stalked us. The author plunges us into a sweeping history with a colorful cast of renegade scientists, their patrons, and patients. What can we learn?

November 5, 1 p.m. Meet Photojournalist Thom Halls - The Catch Display
We have been enjoying the beautiful Catch display that has been on loan from the History Center of San Luis Obispo. Mr. Halls currently teaches photojournalism and picture editing at Fresno City College. His work has appeared in magazines and newspapers around the world. He loves to portray life in common settings where people live unnoticed. This simple approach, he hopes, reveals the importance of each life on its own terms. Meet Mr. Halls who has captured the fisherman's world in his photos. He'll share insight about photography and his experiences with the fishermen of our area.
Books (for the Wednesdays program only) are available for checkout in advance at the Morro Bay Library. The Fall Series 2011 Booklist, The Winter Series 2012 Booklist, 4th Fridays Mystery Readers 2012 Booklist, and Special Events Series Flyers are available for download at MorroBayBookDiscussionGroup.org or at the library.
