Greenspace Creekside Art Festival
You’re invited to join us for an afternoon of fun and sun at the third annual Greenspace Creekside Art Festival in the picturesque town of Cambria. Come browse original works of art for sale by local artists, accompanied by live music by the acclaimed jazz fusion trio, Five Minus Two. Sip a cool glass of lemonade or wine while you decide which piece would work best in your home or office.
Proceeds from sales of art work and refreshments will benefit Greenspace to help it carry out its mission of protecting our rich cultural and natural heritage on the North coast. Richard Hawley, Greenspace executive director, will provide a brief introduction to the natural history of the area, including Cambria’s unique pine forest. Docents will provide tours of the meticulously restored Chinese Temple found at the site.
The art festival is free and open to the public. It’s all happening at the scenic Greenspace Creekside Reserve, located at 2264 Center Street in Cambria on Saturday, October 25th from Noon to 4:00 PM. More information:
Morro Bay Surfboard Art Festival Partners With Moss Marketing Group to Promote From the Summit to the Sea
The Surfboard Art Festival, a new event in Morro Bay launching in November, created by volunteer-based organization Morro Bay In Bloom, has joined with Karin Moss and Moss Marketing Group to promote the Oct. 22-24 history-making, cross-California vintage car caravan, From the Summit to the Sea.
From the Summit to the Sea is a classic car cruise from Yosemite to Morro Bay celebrating the 150th anniversary of California State Parks, the 150th anniversary of the Yosemite Grant, and the 50th anniversary of Morro Bay cityhood. Up to 150 classic cars and vintage vehicles will travel across the center of the state from Yosemite National Park to Morro Bay via Highway 41 to mark the trio of milestones.
As a result of the partnership between the Surfboard Art Festival and From the Summit to the Sea, early registrants to Summit to the Sea will be automatically entered in a drawing on the event’s website, From the Summit to the Sea, and could win an original piece of California surfboard art courtesy of Morro Bay in Bloom.
The Morro Bay Surfboard Art Festival, promoted by Morro Bay in Bloom, a volunteer-based 501 c(3) organization dedicated to the enhancement of public life in Morro Bay, will create and display 30 pieces of public surfboard art during November, concluding with a gala auction of the art on Nov. 29 at the Inn at Morro Bay.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit Project Surf Camp, Morro Bay in Bloom, and the individual artists. Surfboard art is an expression of Morro Bay's culture as much as any art form is an expression of the culture in which it is created.”

From the Summit to the Sea participants will gather on Wednesday evening, Oct. 22, for a hosted barbecue in Oakhurst, the southern gateway to Yosemite. After spending the night in Oakhurst, vehicles will cruise through Yosemite, where dignitaries will be on hand for the official send-off on Thursday morning. From there, they’ll travel 140 miles south on historic Highway 41, stopping for lunch at the famous James Dean-themed Jack Ranch in Cholame, near the intersection of Highways 41 and 46, where James Dean lost his life in a car crash in 1955. After lunch the vehicles will complete the last 70 miles of the journey to Morro Bay.

Local Start-Up Becomes Finalist in Wells Fargo Works Contest
Local Start-up, VegThisWay LLC, has made it their mission to get healthy snacks into the hands of kids everywhere, and with the help of Wells Fargo they are getting one step closer. VegThisWay LLC entered the Wells Fargo Works Contest, which aims to help small businesses grow and succeed, and was recently declared a finalist in the competition.
VegThisWay LLC created the Rawr BarTM, an all natural fruit and veggie snack bar that’s packed with healthy veggies, nutritious fruits and vibrant flavors. Rawr BarsTM are a convenient and delicious snack that can be found in many retail locations along the central coast.
As VegThisWay LLC continues to grow, being a finalist in the contest allows for the opportunity to expand at a faster rate and bring Rawr BarsTM to more stores and more people. The team is excited to continue on in the competition and also give back to the San Luis Obispo community for all the support they have shown.

The exhibit described below is the product of all the photographs delivered to the SLO History Museum by the people at the MB power plant just before it closed. The Museum is open Wed-Mon, 10-4, free entry, and is in the old Carnegie Library next to the Mission in SLO.
