Our offshore waters have qualified for sanctuary designation since 1990. Now, with new marine sanctuaries possible, we propose the California Central Coast Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary. To achieve the best water quality, vibrant marine ecosystems, and to protect the Chumash cultural heritage, our efforts are focused to fill the unprotected gap between the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary. Anti-Firing of Lueker, Schultz Buried in Politics

Last month two City Council meetings, focused on whether City Manager Andrea Lueker and City Manager Rob Schultz might be reprimanded or fired from their jobs, drew packed audiences scarred by attacks on the Council majority of Jamie Irons, Christine Johnson, and Noah Smukler, who were accused of needlessly considering the dismissal of the two administrators. Those attackers claimed it was all about them being fired when it could just as easily be reprimands. Read More
New Council Majority Attacked Atrociously
Have you ever heard such appalling and shocking words as those that were used to attack Morro Bay City Council members during meetings over the last two weeks? Not just the worst attacks over the past 20, 30 or 40 years but . . . ever?!!! If you haven't heard them, well, you have some shockers coming to your ears and mind.
These atrocious and disgraceful words were hurled at the new three-member majority of the Council at two City Council meetings on June 12 and 24, meetings that were to review the possible "discipline, dismissal or release" of Morro Bay city manager Andrea Lueker and city attorney Rob Schultz. Irons Responds to Recall Move
Monday, September 30, 2013, Morro Bay Mayor Jamie Irons filed a response (attached Answer of Jamie Irons to Notice of Intention to Circulate Recall Petition) to the recall petition with the city clerk of Morro Bay and served Bill Peirce, one of the petitioners. "I can only assume that this recall is a politically-motivated action that might require Morro Bay residents go to the polls three times in 2014," Irons stated. "It does not make sense, especially given how vague the grounds are and that it was initiated with few facts and much emotion." Read More
A Bird's Eye View — Blue-footed Booby by Mike Stiles
It's not often a bird will make national headlines, but such is the case with the recent "invasion" of Blue-footed Boobies, making their way up the California coast as far north as Point Reyes. From the Los Angeles Times to Fox News, local newspapers, blogs, and television stations: all are reporting on the sudden increase in sightings of this bird. Local birder Kaaren Perry found the first of our (San Luis Obispo County) Blue-footed Boobies. She was very excited about the sighting and wasted no time in getting the word out to local birders. Shutterbugs by David E. Holmes
I photograph primarily in black and white, in part because I find that view of the world to be the most esthetically fascinating and because it reduces the photographic viewpoint to it's most basic and simple elements, just concentrating on light and dark. But if a scene is really about the colors, I'm glad to try to capture that too. See More
